CAMPUS NEWS AND HAPPENINGS
Quote to Inspire: "Truth is something you stumble into when you think you are going someplace else."

- Welcome April! I hope the changing season boosts your creativity. Kudos, songwriters, for your continuous efforts. Our staff, coaches, and mentors have noticed your hard work and improvement. WOW, the number of you who have been upping your game by booking private mentoring sessions is inspiring! Two additional publisher mentors are now open for private sessions: Jeffrey Nelson and Kim Jones. We've also seen a significant uptick in those of you sending your songs-in-progress to our coaches for song evaluations. Breaking news - we'll have another coach starting this week! Details are coming soon. If you need a fresh perspective or even a craft reminder, remember to glance at the DIY courses, listen to our podcasts, and attend one of our popular LIVE song feedback sessions. Keep up the great work. You do you!
Special Event Pitch - Staff Writer for a Day! This is an exclusive opportunity to be selected by Emily Dryburgh, Co-Founder of Young Music City and RNBW Collective, to find out what it's like to be a professional staff songwriter for a day. The winning songwriter lands a co-writing session with songwriter and major-label artist Chad Michael Jervis of the band King Calaway. This is a great chance to get your songs out in front of an up-and-coming music company and take part in a professional co-write with a recording artist. The submission deadline is April 30th, 2024. You will find all the details in the Pitch Listings area. Good luck to everyone!
General Registration Reminders: You may have 2 Active Live songwriting feedback courses (FDBK) at one time but can add a 3rd if there is still an open spot 24 hours before the class starts. Check your Activity page live songwriting course schedule in case someone cancels during the week and a seat opens up. New to SongU? Welcome! Check out the FAQ Quick Start Guide for an overview of how to begin.
Welcome International Members! When selecting live courses, please consider those that are GMT-friendly, scheduled between 1-3 pm EST on weekdays and Saturdays for live songwriting feedback sessions. If your time zone presents challenges for other hours, remember that you can still register for any class of your choice. Simply submit an MP3 and/or lyrics to your instructor with a note, even if you're unable to attend live.
